What does it take to vaccinate every child in Afghanistan?
In March, the Afghanistan polio eradication initiative conducted its first nation-wide immunization campaign for polio eradication in 2018. In just under a week, around 70 000 workers knocked on doors and stopped families in health centres, city streets and at border crossings to vaccinate almost ten million children. What an incredible achievement.

At the Solidarity Dinner first class musical entertainment was provided by internationally renowned Ricardo J Martins a multi instrumentalist musician specializing in the classical Portuguese guitar who has released 2 albums. He continues to live in the Algarve but tours extensively abroad. He was accompanied on vocals by an outstanding local talent Cristina Paulo. She lives and works locally, but has studied music at the Berkley College of Music in Boston. Cristina has a sublime voice and her range covers everything from pop to classical. On the 17th of March the Club held a Solidarity Dinner at the Estoi Poet Emiliano da Costa School. Almost 1400 euros was raised thanks to the generosity of local sponsors Aviludo; Baião; DineiFrutas; Farovinhos; Florista Beija-flor; Frimarc; João Domigos; Manná; Marco e Elsa ; Nuno Jesus; Olívia e Rui; Panificadora da Malhada Velha and Jaimie Ferrada. Thanks also to Plastic Artist Guida Vaz who kindly allowed her paintings to be exhibited. The funds raised will be used by the school to provide education and equipment to those pupils with special needs both physical and mental enabling them to stay in mainstream schooling. ...
