Tuesday 2nd of July was the first meeting of the new Rotary year and presided over by our new president Christine Fay.

It was also the first formal meeting of our two newest members João Martin's and Iga Pietrzak.

We were delighted to welcome fellow Rotarians Selma Cazes and Nátalia Leal. Nátalia, who is president of RC Utrecht, exchanged banners with Chrstine.

Our incoming president for the 2019-2020 Rotary Year, Christine Fay, an experienced humanitarian, expressed her aspirations to continue supporting the eradication of Polio, as well as the fantastic work done by the Club over the last 10 years in support of the local community of Estoi and the wider Portuguese and international community.

The mission statement of the Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty and the RCEPI has been honoured to uphold these values during the Presidency of Bruno Sousa Costa and shall continue to do so for the forthcoming year under the stewardship of President Christine Fay.

Escola Básica Poeta Emiliano da Costa - Dictionaries for the 5th grade. Merit certificates for outstanding pupils. IT equipment with programmes designed for special needs children to use. Career talks.

APPC - Association supporting cerebral palsy children and their families – a special posture wheelchair

Faro Paediatric Unit - together with Rotary Club Faro contributing to the purchase of a vein detecting machine

Internationally the Club is supporting an anti-child abuse project in Chile and also raised 3000 euros towards the Rotary International keystone project of “End Polio Now”

2019 Rotary Charity Golf Tournament

Register now for our 2019 Rotary Charity Golf Tournament which takes place on Thursday 29th August at the prestigious Monte Rei Golf and Country Club here in the Algarve. Monte Rei, a ‘signature’ Jack Nicklaus designed course,  has been voted the best golf course in Portugal and one of the top courses in the whole of Europe.

RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS

Presidential Handover

The most important day in the Rotary calendar is the Presidential Handover and Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) chose the beautiful Vila Monte Farmhouse in Moncarapacho for this event on Friday 28th June.

Almost 100 Algarve Rotarians and guests listened to outgoing President Bruno Sousa Costa reflect on his year in office – during which the Club raised over 25.000€ to improve the lives of the local community as well as support international causes…

Presentation of Cheque to APPC Faro

Staff from APPC Faro visited the Rotary Club of Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) to talk about the work their non profit-making Association does supporting children with cerebral palsy and related neurological diseases and their families.  Impressed by the work done on a limited budget the Club decided to raise funds for the purchase of a special posture wheelchair. This helps to maintain a child’s back in the correct position to help their posture…

Branco Ao Jantar (White Dinner)

On Saturday, 8th June, Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCPI) together with the Rotary Club of Olhao and Alliance Française hosted their 5th annual iconic White Night Dinner at the historic Museu de Traje in Sao Bras.

The evening was a fantastic success with over 240 people attending, exceeding last year´s numbers.  The guests dressed all in white…

Membership Evening

Rotary Club Estoi Palace (RCEPI) held a membership evening for possible new members at About Wine in Faro on the 26th of April.  9 guests attended the  evening accompanied by their sponsoring Rotarians. The evening was hosted by RCEPI Honorary Member, Luis Figueiro owner of About Wine.

Florentina Charity Fashion Show

On Saturday, 23rd March, the Florentinta Charity Fashion Show took place at Monte Vale d’Eguas Restaurant in Almancil. Over 150 people attended to watch our 12 glamorous models strut their stuff and showcase a selection of clothes available from Florentinta.

Careers Talk at Estoi School
