Rotary Club Estoi Palace International Photographic Competition Rules

Please read these rules before submitting your photo(s). By participating in the Rotary Photo Competition, you understand, acknowledge and unconditionally agree to abide by the following rules. For any clarification or questions please contact the organisers at photos@rotaryestoipalace.org .

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The theme of the competition is “Life in and after Lockdown” in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic. All submitted photos must have been taken within 100 metres of the participant’s place of confinement e.g. home, apartment, caravan, houseboat etc.

The competition is open to anyone over 18 years of age, except members of Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI), for online submissions only through the competition page available at https://rotaryestoipalace.org/photo-competition (the Competition Page). Submitted photos will be displayed in the online gallery accessible from the Competition Page. The gallery will show the title and description of the photo but not the photographer’s name or email address. In the event of any technical difficulties with the upload form please contact photos@rotaryestoipalace.org .

Entry is free although RCEPI would welcome donations of any amount to help support its ongoing work. A donation form is available on the Competition Page.

Submissions will not be accepted once the closing date has passed. The closing date will be published on the competition page.

Photos submitted must be at least 640 pixels on the shorter side, and no more than 2000 pixels on the longer side. File sizes should be no larger than 2MB. Photos must be in JPEG format. Entrants may wish to retain a higher resolution format of submitted photographs which may be requested for publicity purposes.

You may submit up to 5 photographs. However, you will be able to upload only one image at a time using the website’s upload function. You will be asked to provide a title and, optionally, a short description for each image submitted.

Submitted photos must have no border(s), logo(s), copyright marks, identifying marks, or any other visible references and/or marks on the image. Equally photographs must not contain any obvious product placement or advertising material nor any celebrity images.

In the case of a photo showing individual people the photographer acknowledges that by sending such photos that he/she has obtained the approval of the persons appearing on the photos and that the use of the photo in this competition is authorised.

Basic editing, including colour enhancement, the use of filters, and cropping of the photo(s) is acceptable, provided any such editing does not affect the authenticity and/or genuineness of the photo(s).

Advanced editing used to create illusions, deceptions and/or manipulations, and the adding and removing of significant elements within the frame is not permitted.

Photos that, in the judgement of RCEPI, portray or otherwise include inappropriate and/or offensive content will be disregarded.

JUDGING

RCEPI International will appoint a judge / judges as described on the Competition Page.

The judging panel will assess and determine the winning photos. The results and the winners will be announced on the website and winners will be notified. Winners will be asked to submit a higher quality version of their photograph(s) for publicity purposes.

THE PRIZES

The nature of prizes will be published on the Competition Page.

COPYRIGHT

Copyright holders retain copyright of their work but grant RCEPI unlimited non-exclusive use of high-resolution pictures for activities in all media, including social media, online and print, in relation to the contest and the exhibition, without any remuneration being due.

The Photographer will be credited wherever the image is used.

DATA PROTECTION

Data collected during the upload process will be used by RCEPI in accordance with its privacy policy which can be viewed at https://rotaryestoipalace.org/privacy-policy.

RCEPI will use your data only in connection with this competition and will not sell, give away or otherwise dispose of personal data to any third party.
